8-Inch Active Two-Way Loudspeaker with DSP
The Sound Barrier CV8 is a compact active two-way loudspeaker engineered for professional sound reinforcement in portable and installed applications. Designed for mobile DJs, live performers, houses of worship, corporate events, educational facilities, and commercial venues, it combines substantial output, flexible DSP control, and a rugged plywood enclosure in a highly portable 8-inch format.
A 700W RMS Class-D bi-amplified power system drives the low- and high-frequency sections independently, with 350W RMS dedicated to the woofer and 350W RMS powering the compression driver. This efficient amplifier configuration delivers clear, controlled reproduction with the headroom required for speech, live music, recorded playback, and general-purpose sound reinforcement. Despite its compact dimensions, the CV8 reaches a maximum SPL of 124dB, making it equally capable as a primary loudspeaker in smaller systems or as a fill loudspeaker in larger installations.
The system combines an 8-inch woofer with a 1.5-inch voice coil and a 1-inch-exit compression driver. Together, they provide balanced reproduction across a frequency response of 70Hz–20kHz. A 90° horizontal × 60° vertical coverage pattern distributes sound evenly throughout the listening area while helping installers and system operators direct energy where it is needed.
Integrated DSP provides convenient control through an LCD display and rotary push encoder. Selectable operating presets optimize the CV8 for normal playback, live performance, club music, or speech applications. Adjustable bass and treble controls allow further tonal refinement, while selectable 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, and 150Hz high-pass filters make it easier to integrate the loudspeaker with a separate low-frequency system. Digital limiting helps protect the amplifier and transducers during demanding operation, and configurable front LED settings provide clear visual system-status indication.
The CV8 is housed in a rugged 15mm plywood cabinet finished with a durable black polyurea coating. A 1.2mm steel grille protects the transducers, while the recessed top handle makes the enclosure easy to transport and position. Its multi-angle cabinet supports upright front-of-house operation and stage-monitor use, providing the flexibility required for changing venues and applications.
For elevated deployment, the integrated dual-position 35mm pole socket allows the cabinet to be positioned level or aimed downward at 7.5° for improved audience coverage. Twelve integrated M8 rigging points support professionally engineered suspended installations. Compact, powerful, and installation-ready, the CV8 delivers the versatility required for both mobile productions and permanent sound systems.
A Class-D bi-amplified power system drives the low- and high-frequency sections independently for efficient, controlled performance. Dedicated amplifiers power the 8-inch woofer and 1-inch-exit compression driver, producing clear full-range reproduction and up to 124 dB maximum SPL from a remarkably compact enclosure.

The integrated DSP processor makes it easy to optimize the CV8 for different applications and locations. Select operating presets for normal playback, live performance, club music, or speech, then choose a placement setting for pole-mounted, stage-monitor, or bracket-mounted operation. Treble and bass controls provide additional adjustment, while the DSP limiter helps protect the amplifier and transducers during demanding use.

The CV8 can be deployed in several configurations, providing exceptional versatility for portable and installed applications. Nonskid rubber feet support upright front-of-house and angled stage-monitor operation, while 12 integrated M8 rigging points accommodate flown or permanently installed configurations. Mount the cabinet on a standard tripod or above a CV Series subwoofer using an optional speaker pole. Its dual-position 35mm pole socket provides either level positioning or a 7.5° downward angle for improved audience coverage.
