Overview

The Sound Barrier ECL118S is an active vented subwoofer designed to extend the low-frequency performance of ECL Series loudspeakers and other compatible PA systems. Suitable for mobile DJs, live performers, houses of worship, entertainment venues, and installed sound applications, it features an 18-inch woofer with a 3-inch voice coil, a frequency range of 35Hz–150Hz, and a maximum SPL of 125dB.

Its built-in Class-D amplifier delivers 600W RMS and 2400W peak output, supported by a switch-mode power supply. Two balanced XLR/TRS combination inputs accommodate mono or stereo line-level sources, while two XLR outputs connect to powered full-range loudspeakers or external amplifiers. Select CROSSOVER mode to send a high-pass-filtered signal to the satellite loudspeakers, or LINK mode to pass the incoming signal through without output filtering. A selectable crossover, 0°/180° polarity switch, and dedicated subwoofer level control help integrate the ECL118S with the rest of the sound system.

Side carrying handles and an included caster kit help with transport and positioning. A top-mounted M20 Threaded Pole-Mount Socket accommodates compatible satellite speaker setups, allowing the ECL118S to serve as the low-frequency foundation of a portable PA system. Rear-panel power and signal/clip indicators provide clear operating feedback during setup and use.

Class-D Subwoofer Power

The ECL118S uses a dedicated Class-D amplifier to deliver 600W RMS and 2400W peak output to its 18-inch low-frequency driver. A switch-mode power supply supports efficient power conversion, while the integrated amplifier allows direct connection to a line-level audio source without an external subwoofer amplifier.

Flexible Connections & System Control

Two balanced XLR outputs make it easy to connect powered full-range loudspeakers or external amplifiers. CROSSOVER mode provides a high-pass-filtered signal for satellite loudspeakers, while LINK mode passes the incoming signal through without output filtering. The crossover selector helps match the subwoofer to your system, while the 0°/180° polarity switch helps improve bass integration with full-range loudspeakers. A dedicated level control lets you balance the subwoofer output with the rest of your setup.
