Overview

The Sound Barrier iLX8D is a compact professional active two-way loudspeaker engineered for mobile DJs, portable PA systems, live performers, houses of worship, corporate presentations, hospitality venues, educational facilities, stage monitoring, and fixed installations. Its lightweight, space-efficient enclosure makes it easy to transport and position while delivering the clarity and output required for professional speech and music reproduction.

The Class-D bi-amplified power section drives the low-frequency and high-frequency transducers independently for improved efficiency, control, and overall sound quality. The system delivers 150W RMS, 300W program, and 600W peak power. An 8-inch low-frequency transducer with a 1.5-inch voice coil provides controlled low-frequency reproduction, while a 1-inch compression driver with a 1-inch voice coil delivers clear vocals and detailed high frequencies.

With a frequency response of 58 Hz to 20 kHz, a maximum SPL of 120 dB, and broad 110° horizontal by 100° vertical dispersion, the iLX8D provides consistent coverage throughout small and medium-sized listening areas. Integrated DSP processing offers MUSIC, FLAT, SPEECH, and CLUB presets, allowing the loudspeaker’s response to be optimized quickly for different environments and program material.

Sound Barrier Technology, or sBT, provides convenient wireless audio streaming from compatible playback devices. True Wireless Stereo, or TWS, allows two compatible loudspeakers to be paired as dedicated left and right channels, creating true stereo reproduction without an audio cable between the speakers.

Professional connectivity includes two XLR and ¼-inch combo inputs with microphone and line-level capability, a 3.5 mm auxiliary input, and an XLR mix output for expanding the system. Locking powerCON-type AC input and output connections provide a secure power connection and allow power to be linked to compatible equipment.

The rugged MDF cabinet features a durable textured finish, a steel grille with an anti-corrosion coating, integrated side handles, M8 rigging points, and a standard 35 mm pole-mount socket. These mounting and construction features make the iLX8D equally suitable for portable operation, stage monitoring, and permanent installation.
